What are some overused plots in books about aliens?

Question: What are some overused plots in books about aliens?
Yesterday I had this idea for a story that just kind of come out of nowhere. It’s about aliens. I know there are alot of sci-fi/alien books, but I think this might be a new twist on it. But since I haven’t read all the alien books out there, I was wondering what some commonly overused plots or ideas were in books about aliens(from outer-space/other planets). I don’t want to give away my idea, but I was curious if it was too similar to many others.

Thanks!

An incomplete list:
Aliens take over our world.
Aliens want to destroy our world.
Aliens have succeeded in destroying our world to make way for a space highway (Ha.)
Aliens have created the world.

I can go on. The thing is, most plots are just reworked. It doesn’t really matter if it’s overused, if you can fix it. For a better idea of why I say this, see tvtropes.com You will never leave.

  1. Gerald Cline says:

According to Stanly Schmidt, the editor of Analog, the plot he hates to see most is two scientists out exploring the galaxy crash on an uncharted planet. Their ship is destroyed, and they are marooned. They struggle to survive, finally have children and–what do you know???–they’re really Adam and Eve….
