is planet X a theory or is it an actual planet?
I am deeply confused. I do not know weather or not planet X was the theory that there was a planet contributing to Neptune’s odd orbit, or if it is an actual planet.

Planet X is a term used for a SUSPECTED planet that has not yet been found. Pluto was once “Planet X”, but the term could apply to any similar situation.
“Planet X” was a concept devised to explain Neptune’s orbit, as you theorized. Scientists eventually found a plausible explanation for the orbit when they flew by with the Voyager probes, and the planet X idea was disproved. However, the term lives on as a conspiracy theory (usually involved with 2012) which has no scientific backing.
It shouldn’t even be called a theory, it’s just a crackpot hypothesis put forth by people who want to believe crazy things that have no bearing in reality. If there were another planet out there, we’d know about it by now. The whole “planet X” thing shouldn’t even be around anymore, but it’s found new life as a doomsday 2012 scenario.
In other words, people are crazy and ignorant. Planet X does not, has not, and never will exist. The reason Neptune’s orbit was thought to be a little off was because we originally overestimated its mass a little bit. No crazy ideas necessary to explain it.
