In Genesis 6, evil angels left heaven in an attempt to destroy the seed line of Adam and Eve (which was supposed to produce Messiah Jesus Christ). Thes fallen angels impregnated the daughters of Adam. The result ? Giants were born on earth. The giants were hybrid beings who were huge. God destroyed the giants and those families (all but Noah's) who had intermixed with the angels. Noah's family was perfect in its generations (offspring) since they did not intermix with the fallen angels. Christ eventually proceeded from Noah's geneology. Without Noah and the flood, Christ would not have had a pure seed to be born through. Also, a second influx of fallen angels came again to earth after the flood. This is where Goliath came from. God ordered Israel to destroy the giant nations (s/a the Cananites) by warfare after the 2nd influx. I can't say for sure, not really being a worshiper myself. I believe the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse we're often represented as Nephilim.
