I don’t really understand where all the fear is coming from. The Mayans Calendar, which is not predicting the end of the world in 2012, but the start of a new era on December 21st, 2012. The year 2012 marks the end of the “Great Cycle.” When it came to mathematics, time and calendars, the Maya were geniuses. Believing that time repeated itself in cycles.

Many ancient civilization had predicted apocalypse over thousands of years, from the Book of I Ching to Nostradamus, and the Native Indians to even the Holy Bible all predicted that the world will come to an end. However, we as humankind are still around today waiting for that “doomsday” to happen. All predictions are open for different interpretations, and every few years some lunatic is going to flip through some old pre-historic predictions and exaggerate it based on his/her own interpretations. Once your mind starts to persuade you into thinking that apocalypse is going to happen, you would honestly start to believe that it is really coming.

This believe comes from the mayan calendar.. check it out.

  2. Molly B says:

When I was in Junior High School in 1993 (walking up hill through blizzards to school every day, back when Motley Cru was still together, and we had a 1/2 respectable Bush in the white house…) There were signs everywhere saying the world was ABSOLUTELY going to end on a certain day.

Clearly it did not happen. I don’t know who you’re talking about, but the world is not going to suddenly end, kersplat, not now, not in 2012.

The bible gives a few clues, but the big message Jesus had was “you know not the day nor the hour”. So anyone who says they do know the day is lying and/or grossly misinterpreting the scripture.

Now eat your vegetables, you young whippersnapper!

  3. Sabrina C says:

well quite simply it was when the Mayans calender ended… thats all it is .. if it were true then we’d all be friggin dead in four years…NOT COOL so yeah….

There is a day for the end of this age when Jesus returns. No body knows exactly when that will be. Jesus didn’t know when on the earth. The Bible does say when you see the fig tree coming back to life that not all will die before the end. The fig tree is believed to be Israel and it came back as a nation in 1948. So if a person lives to 100+ years it could be all the way to 2048+. The first thing to look for are 2 prophets who give the true message from God and the world hates them. Since this is in the New Testament, I believe this leaves out them being from other religions. But they will not be like most Christians you see today either. They are killed by the anti-Christ ~3.5 years before the return of Jesus. To the believer in Jesus the last day is not doomsday, but rather a day of celebration and the going to the Marriage Feast of the Lamb.

  5. Fragged says:

Ok you seriously have nothing to worry about. The mayan calendar predicts the end of the world is going to happens every four years. And they haven’t been right so far. Tell your dad he’s insane.

  6. Ken E says:

It’s just a bunch of nonsensical stories started by a couple of book writers posing as scholars of Mayan culture. The real scholars laugh at them when they are not being annoyed by them. A calendar developed by the Mayans comes to an end in 2012, this has to do with the Mayan counting system and has no more meaning than 31 December 2007 just past or 31 December 2008. From what is known of the Mayans, when some calendar came to an end they had a party. Happy New Calendar!

A few others have jumped on the bandwagon with a lot of rot about a wandering planet that a psychic said was going to damage the Earth in 2003. It missed, mostly because it does not exist. Someone said it would come back in 2012. A bit difficult to do if it does not exist.

And there is a lot more drivel from the usual suspects, Revelation readers and dear old Nostradamus who never got anything right.

There is no science or common sense here, it’s mostly superstition and fake scholarship. You may as well be worried by black cats.

Now this is what I think :-
I don’t know where all this doomsday rubbish keeps coming from, as most spiritual people believe it to be the new beginning…
It has been called “The Shift” or “The Great Change”, it is the end of the Mayan calender, and at 13 baktuns, the calender re-sets back to zero…
Some people believe that we will start to merge with the 5th dimension, and we will lose our physical bodies and return to being ethrical beings, as we originally were before Lemuria, aka Mu and we will stop reincarnating here on Earth as we have abused this planet to almost exhaustion…
The Mother (Earth, Gaia) needs to purge herself, cleanse herself, and we will continue to exist as we have done since the dawn of the 1st Universe…
We have the entire multidimensional Universe at our disposal, as we always have…
    Blessed Be… )O(

aliens from the planet phlox will destroy the earth. We will all be slaves to the phloxian home world.

Just a calendar adjustment. I bow to the learned folks who answered on this site, solid information. Not to worry, there have been dire predictions over time, we just have more media coverage now.
