I believe there is a correlation, yes. Many religions have this particular belief, on the differing ages...such as Hinduism. Think about this, though...can't you feel things changing? Can't you feel that things are going to happen?? I certainly do.

No.

The Mayan calendar is "in" or new agers as it supposedly ends on 21 December 2012. What will happen is open to, eh, "interpretation." One example:
"Lawrence Joseph forecasts widespread catastrophe in Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation Into Civilization's End. Spiritual healer Andrew Smith predicts a restoration of a "true balance between Divine Feminine and Masculine" in The Revolution of 2012: Vol. 1, The Preparation. In 2012, Daniel Pinchbeck anticipates a "change in the nature of consciousness," assisted by indigenous insights and psychedelic drug use."

Skeptics response:
"For the ancient Maya, it was a huge celebration to make it to the end of a whole cycle," says Sandra Noble, executive director of the Foundation for the Advancement of Mesoamerican Studies in Crystal River, Fla. To render Dec. 21, 2012, as a doomsday or moment of cosmic shifting, she says, is "a complete fabrication and a chance for a lot of people to cash in."

Pick a number between 1 and 10. For the next few days watch as it comes up again and again. This is a form of a self-for filling prophecy. If you look for patterns in something you'll no doubt find some. To make it sound better, ignore all the times the number doesn't appear and patterns don't show up.

If you believe the Mayan Calendar has some cycles that affect you, by gosh it will. Otherwise it won't

Here's my psychic prediction: On 22 December 2012 the world will still be the same. The interest in the Mayan calendar will be replaced by some other prediction, phenomena, impending disaster or whatnot.

Being that the Mayan calendar is based on the moon and the Gregorian (western) calendar is solar, there are discrepancies in the rhythms of both so an exact answer is hard.

However, the burden of going through the cycles is on the humans, thus it is up to the humans and not the stars the duration of each of its evolutionary cycles.

As a humanity we evolved in the 19th an 20th centuries from an infantile way of thinking into adolescence. We are as a species in our teen years, the next change will be a young maturity, guided primarily by feminine standards and still burdened by our biggest challenge. Identity.

Until we figure out individually who we are then we can collectively solve our problems, we need to learn to love diversity rather than just tolerate it. The minute we discover that we all share the same questions, rather than competing to see who's right we will learn from the experiences of others. This is when we will start to find common solutions to the most important problems.
