how can the 2012 prophecy be true if certain places will be on the 21st a day earlier?

Wasn’t this same sort of thing going on back in the 1990s regarding 2000 and the Y2K bug. There was so much buzz about the end of the world in 2000. People went nuts, bought generators, all sorts of foodstuffs. Think: What would a generator do if the world would just come crashing down? What would buying all sorts of food do if the planet was going to be destroyed? It is almost comical what people will do, yet they don’t think. Not only don’t people think, but they don’t read critically. Let’s start with a scripture.
Matthew 24:14: “And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.”
This scripture is loaded with detail. Many people have read this, but do not understand its significance. There are so many things that I can point back to this scripture to. But let’s start with an obvious point. The preaching of the “good news is to be preached to all the nations; and then the end will come.” What does that mean? Well, it means what it says. The good news, yes that same good news that Jehovah’s Witnesses engage in 24/7 globally has to be preached. Until Jehovah God says that the good news has been preached enough, then that is when the end will come.
However, the end has not come. Why? Because the preaching work is still taking place. Therefore, what have we learned so far? That as long as the preaching work is still taking place, the end has not come yet. However, we have to keep on the watch, as the latter part of Matthew chapter 24 will tell you. Why should we keep on the watch?
Matthew 24:36-39: “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. [v37] For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. [v38] For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; [v39] and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be.”
Since we have no idea when the end will exactly come, it is vital that we live our lives in accord with Jehovah God’s will because it will be Jehvoah God himself, who will bring about the Great Tribulation, as said in verse 21 of Matthew 24. There is no need for us to try and pinpoint when the end will exactly come. That is pointless. Then you get so bogged down trying to pinpoint that exact date so as to become righteous just before that day. Jehovah is the “examiner of hearts.” That will be pretentious. That will not matter to Jehovah. Just think, those who rejected Noah when he preached that there will be a flood all of a sudden had a change of heart when it started to rain, but it was already too late. Jehovah had already shut the door to the ark.
Therefore, if you try and become righteous at the day of The Great Tribulation, it will be too late. Why should one who becomes righteous on that day be saved by Jehovah God as supposed to those who really proved faithful and endured many hardships and genuinely served Jehovah with a complete heart? That would not be fair.
To illustrate: Would it be fair if you worked at a company for 15-20 years and never received a promotion, but yet here comes a new person who just came on the job and gets that position in one year’s time. Would that be fair? Certainly not. No matter how you try and slice that pie.
Revelation 17:16, 17: “And the ten horns that you saw, and the wild beast, these will hate the harlot and will make her devastated and naked, and will eat up her fleshy parts and will completely burn her with fire. [v17] For God put [it] into their hearts to carry out his thought, even to carry out [their] one thought by giving their kingdom to the wild beast, until the words of God will have been accomplished.”
These two verses above speaks of Jehovah God putting it into the hearts for that one thought to be carried out. Yes, Jehovah God will put it into the hearts of the governments to turn on false religion. That will only leave one religion left, Jehovah’s Witnesses.
When Satan the Devil launches an all-out attack on Jehovah’s people, it will be as if Satan is touching Jehovah’s eyeball (Zechariah 2:8) When that happens, Jehovah will step in and that will start the Great Tribulation that was spoken of in Matthew 24:21; Revelation 16:14, 16
Since we do not know the exact day nor time of Jehovah’s Day, we have to live our lives in harmony with Jehovah God and His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, so we do not become like those in Noah’s Day who woke up spiritually when the rain came because if we do, the end result will be exactly the same as those in Noah’s Day, Death and non-existence. They tried to set their spiritual clocks as close as they can without getting hurt and got killed. The same thing will happen to those who try to pinpoint exactly when that time will come. T
