Is the only purpose for the book of revelation to scare people into thinking the world will end soon?
When the Protestants decided to take to the bible with some scissors and remove seven books from the Catholic bible, why didn’t they get rid of the book of revelation? Could it be that they saw a use for dogma about the end of the world? Could it be that they thought it might come in handy if people one day became less intimidated by threats of eternal damnation in hell, they can always bring out the fear of the world ending to scare them back under control of the church?
