Can someone please point out the holes in Nostradamus’ December 2012 prophecy?
I’m freaked out by a show I saw the other night. Need to know if/where there are flaws in his prediction.
Thanks so far for the answers that aren’t being barked at me like I’m stupid. I should be able to expect to come to R&S of all places be treated kindly. Apeman, Lindsay, and a couple others presented a respectful alternate point of view.

How about the fact that Nostradamus is a kook whose predictions are so broad that they can be applied to any point in human history?
What do you think? Answer below!

The fact that nothing he ever predicted ever came true? People have taken things that have happened, and applied his “predictions” AFTER they happened. That’s not a prediction.
first of all 2012 is not even mentioned
They’re broad. Very broad. I could take a quatrain and probably apply it to an event in this week of my life.
In fact, I think I will, BRB.
Century 6 – Quatrain 74
“She chased out will return to the realm,
Her enemies found to be conspirators:
More than ever her time will triumph,
Three & seventy to death very sure.”
I started listening to a band called Nightwish again recently. Now the original lead singer – Tarja – was kicked out of the band, and was done so by an open letter from the other members, I recently found out she continued to perform on her own, I listened to her music and I liked it, I bought her ablum yesterday.
“She chased out will return to the realm, Her enemies found to be conspirators:” refers to her bandmates plotting to kick her out.
“More than ever her time will triumph” refers to her continuing and gaining another fan – me – and probably a lot more fans.
“Three & seventy to death very sure.” I don’t like the new Nightwish singer, so I’ve stopped listening to their new material, my appreciation in their music has died.
See? Now either Nostradamus predicted I’d listen to Tarja sing again, or his quatrains can fit broad subjects. There’s really no need to get freaked out.
Nostradamus was not a prophet of God, There is many of his predictions that did not come to pass, But a True Prophet of God will not make a false prophecy.
If you watched the show, you should know the flaws based on what they said. They even ended the show on a positive outlook.
Noone knows the severity of the ‘prophecy’.
It could be anything.
How about “Nostradamus never made any prediction about 2012, and nothing he has predicted has come true in any meaningful way.”
The only flaw anyone could say, is that we don’t know what the quatrains mean until after it happens. But, maybe that was the point.
I assume your talking about the show on The History Channel. It was very intriguing indeed.
Yep, I saw the same show on the History Channel. No worries, though. Many folks have claimed that Nostradamus predicted this and that – after the fact. Never have his prediction been applied to a future event that it actually happened. They tried this just a few years ago, was it Y2K? Anyway, nothing happened.
There is actually a movie..NOSTRADAMUS PREDICTIONS I have it but its too late for me to look coz everyone is asleep I can look it up 2morro??
The flaws in the prediction is that first, never has anyone been able to predict an event in advance by a Nostradamus prophecy, and secondly, it is so vague, the reader can make it mean what ever they want it to mean.
This 2012 craze that is “all the buzz” has nothing to do with Nostradamus, he did not predict it. It is from the Mayan calendar, which “runs out” (starts over) in 2012
think you’re confusing the date with the mayan calendar.
No he never gave direct dates. So there is a big whole right there.
Just another Superstition !!!!!!!!!!!!
Nostradamus didn’t predict anything would happen on Dec. 21, 2012. That’s a pretty big hole…
30 years ago I watched a documentary on the predictions of Nostradamus, it was and still is a very scary situation to come to terms with, being I was 13 at the time I let the thoughts of his predictions rest in the back of my mind for so many years I can’t even remember when it was that I actually stopped fearing it happening, but the truth is I spent so long being frightened of it I forgot to just enjoy being a child, my advice to you is live each day like its your last, love those that you love as much as you can and let God take care of the rest. peace to you
The things that Nostradamus said are very vague and can be applied to anything.
Kind of like me saying “You will eat food this week” or “You will leave the house on a day that ends in Y”
Sure, he never made one.
Nostradamus never ever put dates on any “prophecy.”
You’re looking for something slightly more useful as an answer than “It’s complete and utter pig swill of the purest quality”?
*Every* Nostrodamus ‘prediction’ requires a liberal interpretation applied with the benefit of hindsight. And a good rule of thumb would be, a prediction that makes sense only *after* the predicted event is not a prediction but an example of wishful thinking.
In the light of that, exactly how much faith do you want to put in *anything* that he (or they) might have written?
And I’m also a little lost on the whole concept here. Why in the name of all rationality is there any question about whether the earth will end in 2012? Have I missed a particularly nasty weather forecast or something?
