Q&A: On December 21st, 2012, what is ‘predicted’ will happen?

On December 21st, 2012, what is ‘predicted’ will happen?
I know they say it is the end of the world, but I wanna know ‘what’ is gonna happen. Like, how will it be the end. The Earth crashes in the sun; a solar flare kills us…yada yada yada. I don’t necessary believe in the 2012 prophecy, I am just curious on what the mayans/aztecs ‘say’ will happen.

Answer by Arlene
I have never read what actually will happen. I have only read that their calendar ends and their prediction is the world will end.

  1. Soilguy says:

The Mayans don’t say anything will happen. Their calendar happens to end in 2012, so kooks have decided it means the world will end. Hollywood knows a good excuse for a disaster movie when it sees one, so they made that movie.

I hate to tell you that MY calendar ends on December 31, 2010! Yes, you heard right, less than one year from now! So the world will come to an end a the end of THIS year!

Or I could just buy a 2011 calendar, and save the planet from certain destruction.

  2. Some Assembly Required says:

It will be the solstice. That is when the apparent motion of the Sun toward the south stops and it goes back the other way. In the northern hemisphere, hours of daylight start getting longer, in the southern they start getting shorter. This happens every year and in June it happens the other way about.

What the Mayans in one city said is that the end of their long count (when the 13th baktun fills up) something will descend into something else. The inscription is damaged so the meaning is not clear. However they probably expected party time since it would be like the end of a century for us. At Palenque, the version of the long count seems to have 20 baktuns, and presuming both counts start from the same date, that will not fill up for another 2,700 years. At that time, King Pacal the Great will still be remembered.

They did not predict the end of the world. That was invented by modern frauds around 2003, to make money from the gullible and the paranoid.

These fake prophets are liars and they are trying to sell you books of nonsense, worthless disaster shelters, guns and useless survival goods.

They have predicted several different ways the world will end. If there was any truth to it they would all be saying the same thing. They also predict various causes, none of them have anything to do with doom and disaster and can’t cause anything much or at all.

The planets will not line up and it would not matter if they did.

No galactic line ups except for one that nearly happens every year about 18 December. Nothing happens.

Neutrinos cant heat the core of the Earth, there will be no death from the Sun, no stray planets, and so on and on and on . Lie after lie.

One of these book writers is called Sayer. He’s supposed to be an “eminent internet scholar”. If you do a search on the name the references go straight to the sites promoting the book. So he’s so eminent that nobody has heard of him before.

After nothing much happens in 2012 they can re-jig the books for another date, cut out the references to the Mayans, change the name of the supposed writer and sell it again.
