So…what do you think the significance of the Mayan calendar’s ending in the year 2012?
I’ve read all sorts of supposed reasons for the ending of the Mayan calendar at 2012. Some think it’s an armegeddon sort of thing while others look at it to be a new beginning in a much Lighter way. It may be something in between or perhaps, has no significance whatsoever. What are your thoughts about it?

I think its dumb and wont happen…the Mayans have been right about a few events but that in my opinion was just luck…if a bunch of natural disasters were to wipe out the world…which i belive will happen SOMEDAY…it wont be in 2012 its too soon.
What do you think? Answer below!

I have one of the 13 crystal skulls so if you want the world to continue past 2012, stop asking about it or I will not let the skull reunite with the other 12.
The thing about the calender is that its like god is telling us when its time for the earth to die:
The date December 21st, 2012 A.D. (13.0.0.0.0 in the Long Count), represents an extremely close conjunction of the Winter Solstice Sun with the crossing point of the Galactic Equator (Equator of the Milky Way) and the Ecliptic (path of the Sun), what that ancient Maya recognized as the Sacred Tree. This is an event that has been coming to
resonance very slowly over thousands and thousands of years. It will come to resolution at exactly 11:11 am GMT.
The Tzolkin is a 260-day calendar based around the period of human gestation. It is composed of 20 day-signs, each of which has 13 variations, and was (and still is) used to determine character traits and time harmonics, in a similar way to Western astrology. The Maya also used a 365-day calendar called the Haab, and a Venus calendar, plus others. They measured long time periods by means of a Long Count, in which one 360-day year (a “Tun”), consists of 18 x 20-day “months” (“Uinals”). Twenty of these Tuns is a Katun; 20 Katuns is a Baktun (nearly 400 years); and 13 Baktuns adds up to a “Great Cycle” of 1,872,000 days, ( 5200 Tuns, or about 5125 years).
Jose Arguelles has pointed out that the Tzolkin is a harmonic of the Great Cycle, and can be used to map history, as if it is measuring not individual gestation but species gestation, since 5 Great Cycles add to exactly 26,000 Tuns; the “Grand Year” or precession of the equinoxes – a higher harmonic of 260.
Basiclly they’ve realized that because of man kind the earth will fall (its a giant over dose when it comes to Global Warming). So its determined that soon the world will wall and man kind (the cause) is coming with it.
I’ve heard the same theories you have, I’m sure, but I have to say, I don’t believe them. My opinion is that nothing will happen, other than an “extension” of the calendar. The calendar ends in 2012, indicating the end of a cycle. What does a cycle do? It repeats itself, allowing different outcomes of course, but repeating itself nonetheless. You can look at it marking the end of an era, or the start of a new one. Really it’s both, but most people tend to look at one or the other. Remeber the Y2K? People were CONVINCED that we would have a technological melt down. But yet, look at how we’re able to communicate today. I’ll see you in 2013.
The following cycles seem the most relevant to what may occur in 2012. There is the 25,625 year “Galactic Day” and the 5,125 year “Long Count”(Great Cycle). Both of these are set to end and restart on the Winter Solstice of 2012 (11:00 UST Dec. 21, 2012): That is unless that 2012 Mayan Prophecy comes true (I’ll get back to that later).
Let’s start with the “Galactic Day”. As we travel around the Milky Way galaxy, it is my understanding that we do not remain at a constant distance nor at the same orientation in relation to the black hole at its center; a black hole the Maya refer to as the supreme creator, “HUNAB KU”. Instead, we move in and away from this black hole. As we move in we simultaneously align to the Milky Way’s equator or “The Tree of Life” as the Maya call it. In the years that we are furthest away, we become dense low vibrating energy and experience our dark spiritual years: These years are part of the “Galactic Night”. In the years that we move closer, we become higher vibrating energy and spiritually enlightened beings: These years pertain to the “Galactic Day”. We are currently in transition from Night to Day. The complete cycle takes 25,625 years; approximately the same as what modern science has calculated and named “The Precession Of The Equinox Cycle”.

The “Long Count” evenly divides the “Galactic Day” into five equal parts (25,625 years / 5 = 5,125 years). It is my understanding that this cycle also coincides with a natural rhythmic beat that is derived from the black hole at the center of the galaxy in the form of an energy pulse. This energy pulse presumably has multiple effects on us and our surroundings. It not only helps us to become enlightened beings for twenty years, but reeks havoc on Earth by creating larger solar flares which can bring famine, increased earthquakes and volcanic activity, tsunamis, and sometimes even a pole shift. Twenty years prior to this event, in a period the Maya refer to as “The Time of No-Time”, mild energy spurts, from “HUNAB KU”, create a shift in consciousness; from left-brain thinking to right-brain thinking (from logical to intuitive). This shift can be experienced all at once or gradually at first moving exponentially as we approach the end of the cycle.

There is one last Mayan calendar I could share with you called “The Nine Underworlds”. It is one of the more recently rediscovered calendars and may be the most important one. It is a calendar that has recorded the state of consciousness from the beginning of time (The Big Bang) to Dec. 21, 2012; At which time we will have supposedly consciously evolved to completeness to become co-creators with “HUNAB-KU”: It maps out “creation” if you will. No one knows for sure what to expect since it is the first time anyone will have experienced this since the beginning of time. It is much too involved for me to go into, but I found a video that covers it pretty well; albeit kind of long.

i think they predicted it because at the time they made the calendar they were at their greatest so they made the calendar depending on when they thought the last mayan would die
