The real Maya did not believe that their world will end. They even celebrated one of their kings, King Pacal of Palenque, by predicting him, that he will still be worshipped in 4772 BC (their way to say: Long live the king). Mayanism was created in the early 1970s from New Age followers, and is a mix of real Maya mythology, misinterpretations and pseudo-astronomic claims. They claim, that the end of the world is predicted in the Popol Vue, the holy book of the Maya. But that claim is wrong. The Popol Vue is not the holy book of the Maya. It is a collection of Maya mythology written down by catholic missionaries almost 500 years after the fall of the Maya civilization. It does also not make predictions on the end of the world. But it describes the end of the previous two worlds, in which the gods tried to create life, but failed. The current world was made of Maize in the Maya mythology and because of that, was a success.
