Christians have their book of revelations. Muslims have their fifth Imam. Jews have a messiah that they don't believe has shown up yet, I'm kind of curious what they think they need saving from these days... The Mayans had a good cycle of prosperity and catastrophe in their calender but they didn't last long enough to reach the end of it. It would have just started again at the beginning anyway but that never stopped crazy conspiracy theorists. Doomsday cults invariably come from a religious background. Atheists don't care about the end of the world since they don't last past their own deaths.
