When people say "the world ends" they are probably talking about an apocalyptic type situation... anything from WW3 type nuclear bomb-age to zombies taking over, aliens eating every human, widespread disease, ect. The ENTIRE earth very likely to end any time soon, unless the sun decides to die on us a few billion years early, a planet hits us, or maybe a black hole sucks us into the abyss of nothingness. I love apocalyptic novels/movies, it is fascinating to imagine what would become of the human race if 90% of humans died. It would probably be pretty enjoyable, unless zombies/aliens/robots/teenage mutant ninja turtles decided to take over, it would basically be a never ending video game... If humans survive for another thousand years without destroying its civilization then we could easily progress far enough, technologically, to leave earth and colonize other planets throughout the solar system or galaxy. So maybe in 1000 years if humans are still around, a killer asteroid the size of Mars comes and strikes earth completely destroying it. Yet, humans have established other colonies. So while earth is gone, the humans remain. That is one possible scenario. And humans cannot harm the earth. We can harm other life forms or harm earth enough so it doesnt have the capacity to carry human life, but we could never harm the actual earth. It will go on with or without humans.
