Why do doomsday questions always get the most answers?
I mean there are plenty of different questions in astronomy. I see alot of you hate the idea of. So why don’t you just ignore those dumb questions?
Am I right?

Some people here think that it’s our duty to make people understand that doomsday is just a bullshlt.
I just feel like answering questions and getting points…

A lot of the time we do just get tired of them, but sometimes it can mean honing an answer to cut to the quick even better. The questions that aren’t being asked intentionally by trolls reveals a lot about mass-psychology.
I’ll let you in on a little secret. I’ve pretty much given up on enlightening these folks, trolls or not. But sometimes I’ll post an answer for the purpose of entertaining the other users, rather than one that the asker has any capacity of taking heed from. In this case the thumbs-up are the reward, and Best Answer is the icing on the cake.
Added: Yahoo! Answers bears partial responsibility as they have configured their searches so that the keyword “2012″ automatically gets lumped in with end-of-the-world claptrap (just wait until the new year!), which in turn gets lumped in with Astronomy & Space, which is a further mark against them.
REALLY?
