Why does the Mayan calendar abruptly stop in 2012?
I recently read that the polar caps would melt sooner than previously expected, in fact scientists predict that they’ll be gone by 2012. We all know that global warming exists, so will the melting of the caps bring and end to us? So do you think the Mayan’s somehow were shown a glimpse of this by God or in some other way, and left the clue of their calender ending as a sign to warn us?

This may just be a coincidence. It could be just how far they measured.

according to the mayans, the world ends on 12/21/2012

It’s just the end of a numbering cycle. When you buy an astrological ephemeris, it covers a decade, a century or a millenium. They don’t have to publish the next volume to ensure that stars will still be there. Use your brain!

The world is not ending in 2012. Its the beginning of a new cycle. The sun will align with the center of the milky way galaxy and Dec 21 will be the longest day.
