September 29, 2011. NASA makes a conference for updating information about the database of near-Earth asteroids in our solar system, tracked by Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) telescope. Someone in a phone call asks about Planet X and the answers provided by NASA, took the acronym “Never A Straight Answer” to a whole new level. In one of the calls, someone asked if the Planet X or any other massive body, possibly lurking in the inner system, was detected by WISE. (notice at time 4:10) Amy Mainzer (NEOWISE Principal Investigator, JPL, NASA): “Yes… this is Amy Mainzer and I’m happy to answer this one… Planet X is not coming to get us! So.. but we are looking to see if there are any other bodies, in the outer part of the solar system with the WISE data. This is a natural project for WISE and so, we’re still working on it right now, we obviously just returned a huge amount of data from the telescope and it’s gonna take us a long time to sort through, but the initial results are very promising, you may have seen early results, where we discovered a new class of very cool type of stars, with WISE.. But the search is still on and… we don’t think that there’s anything that’s hazardous in the outer solar system. An object in the outer solar system might be a very small, old and cool version of a ‘brown dwarf’. ISuch a Dark Star would be more like Jupiter than a flaming brown dwarf star. This sub-brown dwarf might still be found by WISE, but it would not be as obvious at the brown dwarfs beyond Proxima Cantauri described here, because it would be much cooler. They’re not ruling it out, and it may take a couple more years for them to crank the data. Exciting times!
and a couple days later they catch a big commet hitting the sun and dont answer questions about the fire ball that kills one and hurts 9 just days befor this

You’d think that they wouldn’t need to spend months sorting through the data if there was a huge planet it up like a christmas tree on the infrared pictures.
