    Everyone on this video is an immature fuck. This means everyone hating on Virgil because he didn’t make DT, and Virgil fans who are trashing DT fans and DT themselves. If you watched “The Spirit Carries On”, you’d know that DT was looking for a drummer that played the songs the way that they have always been played, and not someone who tried to improvise. Do you really think that after 25 years, fans are going to want to hear their favorite songs played differently? Grow the fuck up, faggots

    @mikeybbdrummin ……..Honestly, I didn’t.Yes Virgil is amazing and im not a huge fan of the over the top drumming (what I call it) but it is mind blowing…..But so Is T.Lang, Mangini and Marco….all different but the same goal….To do what the other guy cant do…I read that Virgil and Mangini are friends and talk drums often…..Anyway, Just saying what makes Virgil better then Thomas Lang or the others…but to say Virgil is the most talented is a huge statement.thats all!

  5. sixgunsymphony says:

    @mikeybbdrummin I’m, I have no problem with any of the drummers you mentioned. I do have a problem with DT fans. Did you read my initial post?

  6. mikeybbdrummin says:

    @sixgunsymphony ….what makes your point fact??…..Nothing…it’s your oppinion, and your entitled to it…….when it comes to Mangini, Lang, Virgil and Marco and think all 4 can do something that the other 3 can’t…………..but all are at the top of their game when it comes to being a “Superdrummer”……………thats my oppinion and im sticking to it.

  7. mtcameron3 says:

    @sixgunsymphony Virgil’s ability was too much for DT, not DT fans is what you should have said. I am a fan of DT, just as much as I am of any other talented prog. rock groups. I really wish DT would have went with Marco Minnemann or Virgil Donati, but it wasn’t to be. It seems evident that they are both better than mangini, however.

  8. irwin3036able says:

    Not trashing on Mangini, but I really think that the new Dream Theater drummer should have been Blake Richardson or Virgil Donati. They would have better music with either one of them behind the kit. (I prefer Richardson though)

  9. SeeThroughHead1 says:

    thanks for writing out the time signatures… now please make it in a color that shows up so I can read it!

    The reason He didnt get the job was apparently as said by the Keybordist of DT is because he improvised to much… and they wanted the songs played as they were on the album….

  11. unklemisha says:

    @c0d3x001 just as it happens with mangini now in dt. they’re holding him way back. virgil would have died of boredom i guess.. when i heard virgil admire dt and say that dt were always the ones to inspire him i was sitting and thinking – wtf is he talking about?? he outdoes dt all the way around, how can he not figure it out himself?…

  12. unklemisha says:

    @c0d3x001 exactly!

  13. william10212 says:

    The drumming is absolutely astonishing, but am i the only one that realize that the bass at the beginning is pretty damn awesome too

  14. zakkwyldeverehrer says:

    @systematicdesign Yes, you are totally right and I never said something else;) I bought the new DT album and thought: Fuck, why are the drums so.. holding back?

  15. exntryk says:

    @petehasplans So true.

  16. systematicdesign says:

    @zakkwyldeverehrer I totally agree with you. Mangini is awesome, but he was chosen by DT because he is VERSATIL: He can play all the DT songs like (and better) Portnoy…but listen the new cd, he isn´t composer like Donati and dont have the Imagination like Portnoy. (I know the music was composed only by the rest of the guys, but listen the cd and the drums sounds like an session artist, not a drummer heroe).

  17. zakkwyldeverehrer says:

    @systematicdesign He is definiitely godlike on the drums! I saw the whole auditions and he passed all tests, but he wasn’t in top 3 of DT’s ranking. Donati is not too good, he has just another style and type of creativity. Mangini is perfectly consorting with DT and technically far above all the others.

    @systematicdesign so fucking truth

  19. libidooverdrive says:

    @432drummer exactly right. mangini was the best fit.

  20. c0d3x001 says:

    @432drummer yeah i know… i watched the documentary and i think mangini is a great guy and and also a fantastic drummer and i think they’re gonna be happy with him but for me as a drummer it would have been incredibly interesting to see how virgil would approach the new dt songs :D

  41. 432drummer says:

    @c0d3x001 also if you watch the documentary they made on the auditions it was not just a case of how good a drummer a person was but what kind of personality they had and stuff like that so it had to be a whole package when choosing their new drummer

    So much for “white guys not having rhythm”….

    I’m not a bassist either…
